When Will I Be Happy Sermon Series

New Sermon Series

As we saw last week in the conclusion to our series on Jonah - the book ends with an open-ended question to the reader: "Should God not have compassion on the great cities of the world?" God's desire was to use Jonah to be a channel of his grace, compassion and abundant love to the Ninevites - the last people in the ancient world you'd think God would care about. But God had a burning desire to lead them to repentance.

By ending with this question, the book of Jonah actually ends with a silent, yet clearly implied, question to us - What about you? This is God's heart for the people of the city - does your heart match His?

As we enter into a new sermon series on the book of Philippians we are asking everyone to consider: how might God use His Word in Philippians to connect to those people in my life who don't yet know Jesus or who aren't connected to His church?

We have studied the book's message ahead of time to discover its gospel connection to all of us - no matter where we stand with Jesus. Philippians brings the gospel to bear on the question all of us ask, "When will I be happy...?" We've discovered that Paul applies to the gospel to the 4 main places we look for happiness - When will I be happy...with life? ....with others? ....with God? and with myself? (For more info on the overall message of Philippians click here).

Together as a church family we are asking everyone to respond to God's missional heart for the city by:

1) Pray consistently for 3 people you're dreaming would come to know Jesus or return to His church.

2) Look for opportunities to invite them to church or to talk with them about the impact the sermons are having on your own life.
